About St.Mary the Virgin Lewisham
We are a vibrant, diverse, inclusive Anglican parish in the heart of Lewisham. Come and join us for mass and Children's and Youth Church, every Sunday at 10 am. St Mary the Virgin is the ancient parish of Lewisham, and there has been a church on the site for over 1,000 years. The buildings and grounds are full of historic and significant monuments and memorials, but they are also home to a vibrant and worshipping community which has a focus on engaging with and serving local communities across Lewisham.

We hope that you will find a home at St Mary’s to mark the important steps through life. We are available especially for Baptisms, Weddings, and Funerals. We hold a booking hour between 10-11am on a Saturday, or for more information please contact Fr Steve.

History and heritage trail
Lewisham people have worshipped here for at least a thousand years. The site of the church is close to, and almost certainly linked with, the ancient well at nearby Ladywell.

Safeguarding
At St Mary’s Lewisham we take the safety and security of all of our parishioners seriously, and especially those in our community who are younger or more vulnerable. We have a dedicated safeguarding lead and all of our leaders have been trained on how to protect those that we pray, sing and spend time with.
