The Mothers' Union is an international Christian charity that seeks to support families worldwide. In addition to mothers, its membership includes parents, men, widows, singles and grandparents.
St. Mary's Mothers' Union

Our main mission is to support family life in all its forms. We look after the Children’s Corner at the back of church, and the families who use it. We make tiny garments for premature babies at the Evelina hospital, and hats for the homeless. We raise money for various projects both locally and globally providing holidays for deprived families, running literacy courses in Africa, supporting families of prisoners and working with survivors of domestic abuse. We send much-needed items like school uniforms to our link in Zimbabwe and collect things to help needy young people in the borough. To find out more about all the other projects MU is involved with, contact the branch leader Sue Steel via the parish office.
There has been a branch of the Mothers’ Union at St Mary’s since 1895. This year we are celebrating our 130th anniversary. We are a lively branch, with members from a wide age range. We meet on the third Wednesday evening of the month at 7.30 for meetings on a range of topics. We have recently started two new outreach groups – Knit & Natter and Crafty Chatter – that meet once a month during the day. Our numbers are growing, and in the last two years we have enrolled eleven new members and welcomed six friends of the MU.

We are a very welcoming group and would love you to take part in our activities. All are eligible to join our organisation, single or married, male or female, childless or parent.
