This Saturday, St Mary’s Therapeutic Garden in Ladywell came alive with warmth, conversation, and community spirit during a special Planting Stories event. As part of Refugee Week, participants gathered to repot beautiful houseplants — including peace lilies, prayer plants, and kalanchoes — which they lovingly took home in ceramic pots, complete with sprays and biofeed. These plants became touching symbols of new roots and fresh beginnings. 🪴✨
Guided by esteemed local garden designer Catriona Rowbotham, attendees received expert tips on caring for their plants while enjoying relaxed English conversation in a welcoming setting. The peaceful garden atmosphere made the afternoon feel truly restorative and inclusive.
We’re grateful to Lewisham Council for supporting this meaningful initiative, and to Oksana Yarema for facilitating the event in collaboration with Facework. It was a beautiful reminder of how shared green spaces can foster hope, healing, and belonging. 💚🌍
