Max Marsh to serve as curate in St.Mary’s

We are very pleased to announce that Bishop Christopher has invited Max Marsh to serve as curate in St Mary’s Lewisham from June 2021. Max and his wife Hannah live in Mirfield, near Leeds, where he is studying at the College of the Resurrection.

Max will be ordained as deacon on 26th June 2021 and will join us at St Mary’s for the first time on Sunday 27th June.

Max writes:

'Hello. Hannah and I are very excited to be returning to south London. We're very excited to meet you all at St Mary’s and to be part of the community in Lewisham. We look forward to worshipping alongside you soon.

I am originally from Sheffield and moved to London to study Drama at London South Bank University where I met Hannah, my wife. I worked at St George’s in Borough and later St Albans Cathedral while exploring my vocation.

Hannah and I were married two days before moving to Mirfield to begin my studies: I completed my degree in Theology from Sheffield University. During my final year I am on attachment at Wakefield Cathedral.

Hannah and I live with Bonnie, our house rabbit. During our free time, we enjoy watching movies, travelling and playing games.'

Please pray for Max and Hannah as they prepare to join us at St Mary’s next year. We give thanks for Max’s future ministry and for the confidence in St Mary’s from Bishop Christopher in inviting him to come to our wonderful parish and this dynamic, challenging and diverse part of south London.
